Your child is showing signs of anxiety, but you might not be sure if it’s enough of a concern to warrant professional help.

There’s nothing much worse than having a child that says they’re feeling anxious, sick or worried. Then you may feel like that you don’t have the skills, the knowledge nor the confidence to fully help them.

It can be stressful for you. It can have you feeling anxious.

At worst, it can make you feel particularly powerless and unsupported.

When you throw in the mix the myriad of ‘helpful’ suggestions and advice from well-meaning family members and individuals it can be tough to discern who to listen to, what to implement and how to support your child.

There are many people out there who say that anxiety is ‘ just in their heads’….that it’s ‘not that bad‘…..and that they should ‘just suck it up’ or even worse ‘just ignore it’.

The fact of the matter is this: you know your child. You know they need help. You want to make sure that you can help them to the best of your ability and be there for them, guiding them in the way that is right for you and for them.

Trust your instincts.

You’ve got this.

Maybe you are hoping that some of it is something that they will grow out of, or will improve once all this COVID-19 stuff changes.

Despite this, there is a niggling thought telling you that you must get some help, because watching them in tears, or not wanting to do things that they usually find fun, just breaks your heart.

And I have to say, knowing how important it is to get support when kids are still young, when the challenges are more manageable, please trust your instincts!

You can get information off the internet, read a book and even get advice from family and friends, but this does not tell you how to apply it to you and to your child.

Anxiety differs from worry. Different types of anxiety require different approaches. PLUS, if your family has members that are neurodivergent (including Autistic or ADHD) then you’ll need to adjust your approach again.

Then there are those times when you are trying to help your child and you can feel your own emotions getting bigger and bigger and bigger! Feeling able to manage these feelings is not something that is really talked about.

Parenting anxious children is HARD and over time it can make your question whether what you are doing is making things better or worse.

Building resilient children in the current times is incredibly challenging and these are some of the things parents tell me they are perplexed about:

  • Whether comforting or reassuring kids is the same as ‘giving into' their worries.
  • Wondering how you to let your child know that you believe that they have strength and bravery to cope.
  • How to respond in the moment and to feel certain that you are doing the right thing for your child.
  • Feeling like you are the only parent going through this (especially when your child is having a panic attack, meltdown or sleepless nights).
  • How to know what advice is right
  • Knowing what to do in what order, what to pay attention to, what to let go of, and where to start.

If you have already made the decision that you want help, where to start?! With the demand on child and adolescent therapists higher than ever before, will you be able to actually get an appointment?

If you are wishing for the confidence that the plan you have in place is going to work, that family will support you, so you don’t feel like you are being second guessed, then this is for you.

In seven easy to understand lessons, we will address all of these things. Filled with the most helpful parts for a parent looking to support an anxious child.

Doing this alone is HARD.

Parents deserve SUPPORT.

For the first time since I created this self-paced program in early 2020, I’m going to personally take you through it.

WHO WILL DELIVER YOUR PROGRAM?

Kate French | Clinical Psychologist | Coach | Mentor

“Hi, lovely to virtually meet you! Welcome and thanks for taking the time to check out my newest coaching program- The 7 Day Blueprint to Understanding & Parenting Your Anxious Child. I hope you see that this program is a way you can understand anxiety, get evidence based information to support your child and family, straight from me to you!

So what’s my story? Well, when I'm not online delivering parent coaching and training, I have a psychology practice called Side by Side Psychology, in a regional town called Mildura, (Australia), that I run and consult in. I'm also a wife and mum to three daughters and have family members that are neurodivergent (autistic and adhd). As a busy parent and business owner, part of my self care involves my hobbies of reading, (being part of a book club), yoga, being creative and spending time with pets, family and friends.

I've been following my heart's passion which is working with families that recognise that their child/children (or they!) are Autistic or neurodivergent. I endeavour to assist them with their mental health, skill development, interventions to assist with anxiety, friendships and life. I also regularly provide parent coaching helping parents support their kids emotional development journey. I've been doing this work with adults, families, toddlers, kids and teens for the past 17 years and am fortunate to still be invigorated by this work and the people that I get to meet doing it.

The 7 Day Blueprint to Understanding & Parenting Your Anxious Child is my way of being able to help you as parents and carers feel more confident to support your child and teen with anxiety.

I look forward to you taking the step to help your child or teen and being part of this first interactive delivery of The 7 Day Blueprint to Understanding & Parenting Your Anxious Child, so that I can be part your journey going forwards.

I can’t wait to speak with you soon”,

Kate

Will it help if my child or teen doesn’t think they need support and won’t try any of the ideas ?

Yes! Parents are an amazing resource for anxious kids and teens and have capacity to have a profoundly positive impact on supporting their wellbeing. Understanding how to respond to their anxious moments, understanding how to model approaches to help them and guide them in their understanding can be powerful even if they are not ready to try new ideas just yet.
